Most homemade stuff ends up being bad for you. I use to make bongs out of plastic coke bottles and a marker as the downstem. Bowls are the thing though. You can't make aluminum ones cuz the smoke is harmful, so you have to go to your local hardware store and get harassed by employees asking if you need any help. My suggestion is to get one of your older buddies to buy you one at a head shop cuz I know your not old enough to buy. Those little color changing glass pipes are great especially if you're sketchin about the parentals finding your piece.

pvc piping used to make good bongs...you can buy an endcap and the rest of the stuff at any hardware store but it can be a real pain in the A##...best bet have a friend but something for you at a head shop...if there are no head shos in your area and you can't order online, go to a cigar store and buy regular pipe and screens..they don't look to cool but it will work

the easiest bong, and the most common bong that i make comes from a plastic coke bottle, and then go cut a piece of garden hose. garden hose is good because its about the perfect thickness for a down pipe. then go and buy a cone(ahh, bowl i think you call them), if you can't buy one at a tobaconist, you can make one. yes, foil is **** and really bad for you, but there is a much easier way. the best home made bowls are made, im sorry to say, from coke cans. cut out a piece of coke can about:

then cut around it so it look like a circle. the closer it is to a circle, the better the bowl. once you have a circle, make a cut from one side to the center, and then roll it into the shape of a cone:

\/ kinda like this( i ain't no artist), then just snip the end with some scissors, and you got yourself a drop in.

coke can is much better then foil because it does'nt break down from heat, keeps its shape, and you can build one as big as you want. perfect if you need a massive bowl for a big 4-way hookah.

Coke cans, aluminum foil, PVC pipes, and yes, even the garden hose are all pretty much not good to smoke from.

My short answer is that unless you've got someone who's really into crafts or construction in your household, you're not going to find safe, -good- materials to make a piece out of.

The one thing I can possibly suggest -- and even this I'm not sure on -- is some of the clays you can get that harden from air exposure. I know they don't hold up with water, so a bong is out of the question -- but I've made quickie pipes from it without any harmful smokes/vapors noticed.

I've always like smoking a steam roller and some one always had a metal bowl that has a screw thing at the bottom. we'd just buy a piece of pvc pipe get a drill bit that is just smaller than the screw on the bowl and drill a hole in the pipe and screw the bowl on if you can get the perfect size hole then its air tight. but you can use a socket maybe 3/4 in. or so for a bowl. and figure something out with that

My brother and I made a hooka that rocked. We had a glass jar with a screw top lid, 3 small plastic hoses, and the bowl and stem attachment of a broken pipe.

We punched 4 holes in the metal lid - one for the bowl stem and three smaller ones for the hoses. We added ice water, screwed the lid in place, packed the bowl and ... bakin' time. It was real easy to make and was an excellent smoking device. A big thrill at parties!
